Sohar International has entered into a service agreement with Evergreen Gulf Recycling Hub Services LLC to enhance the management of electronic and battery waste generated by the bank’s operations. The agreement, signed by Abdulwahid bin Mohamed al Murshidi, Chief Executive Officer of Sohar International, aims to support the bank’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) objectives through responsible disposal and recycling processes.
The partnership establishes protocols for the collection, recycling, and secure destruction of electronic waste, including data-bearing equipment, in compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks and industry standards. This dual approach not only addresses environmental sustainability but also safeguards confidential information during the disposal process.
Eng Aisha al Saifi, Chief Transformation Officer at Sohar International, highlighted the growing importance of integrating sustainability into operational decisions. She emphasized that as organizations increasingly depend on technology to enhance efficiency and innovation, properly managing electronic assets at the end of their lifecycle is essential.
The initiative also aligns with Oman Vision 2040, which underscores sustainability, resource management, and environmental protection as national priorities. Through this agreement, Sohar International reinforces its commitment to embedding responsible environmental practices within its broader business strategy.
