The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), the regulatory body responsible for overseeing solicitors and law firms across England and Wales, has announced a vacancy for an executive director specializing in market risk, data, and insights. The SRA currently regulates more than 200,000 solicitors and approximately 9,000 law firms.

This senior role reports directly to the chief executive and includes membership on the organization’s executive team. The appointed individual will be charged with providing strategic leadership over several critical functions, including market risk management, data governance, analytics, insight, and research. The position aims to ensure that the regulator maintains an intelligence-driven, evidence-based approach to identifying and addressing emerging risks within the legal sector.

The executive director will be responsible for advancing the SRA’s analytical and research capabilities to deliver robust insights that guide the organization’s priorities and assess performance effectively. Candidates are expected to have demonstrated leadership experience within a regulatory body, a regulated industry, or a similarly complex environment. They should also possess a proven record of managing market risk, data analysis, insight generation, or research functions that have influenced strategic decision-making.
