Solihull Moors have strengthened their squad with the acquisition of two former Sheffield Wednesday players, Marvin Johnson and Elias Kachunga, both signing short-term contracts until January.
Johnson, 35, has returned to Solihull Moors, where he began his football career before moving on to clubs including Romulus, Kidderminster, Motherwell, Oxford United, Middlesbrough, Sheffield United, and Sheffield Wednesday. During his tenure at Wednesday, he contributed to the club’s promotion from League One in 2023. His return to Moors comes with the expectation that his extensive experience will add depth and flexibility to the team. Manager Chris Millington highlighted Johnson’s ability to deliver quality on the left wing and provide tactical options due to his versatility.
Joining Johnson is Elias Kachunga, who has also signed a short-term deal with the club. His arrival marks the continuation of a trend by Solihull Moors to bring in former Sheffield Wednesday players, adding to existing signings Chey Dunkley and Rio Shipston.
These moves underscore Solihull Moors’ strategy of bolstering their squad with players familiar with competitive football at higher levels, aiming to enhance performance in the current season.
