Despite the unfavorable aggregate scoreline, Brunei goalkeeper Samuel Somerville emphasized the importance of maintaining belief ahead of the decisive fixture. He acknowledged that the team is aware of the precarious situation but remains confident in their ability to overturn the deficit.

"The aggregate isn’t ideal, but there’s only one goal in it," Somerville said. "We also believe in the quality we have within this squad and the threat we can pose, like we showed in the first game."

Somerville pointed to defensive errors in the first leg as a key factor in their current predicament, admitting that conceding goals at critical moments had a significant impact on the matchup.

"We were disappointed with the goals we conceded in the first leg because they were too soft and came at important times," he admitted, stressing the team’s focus on tightening their defense for the upcoming match.

The return of defender Clark Robertson ahead of the second leg has provided a boost for Brunei, with Somerville highlighting his importance to the squad. The team has reportedly been working intensively on the training ground to address the shortcomings from the first encounter.

"The return of Clark is a big positive – he’s an important player for us," Somerville said. "We’ve learned from the first game and done a lot of work on the training pitch to improve from it."

Looking ahead, the goalkeeper emphasized the need for discipline, effective communication, and concentration throughout the match to allow the team’s attackers to perform their roles under optimal conditions.

"Now it’s about being disciplined, communicating well and staying switched on for the full 90 minutes to give the attackers the platform to go and do their jobs," Somerville added.
