Former “American Idol” contestant Caleb Flynn appeared in court Wednesday as prosecutors played a series of love songs he wrote for his mistress during his ongoing murder trial in Ohio. Flynn, 40, faces charges in connection with the fatal shooting of his 37-year-old wife, Ashley Flynn, at their home earlier this year.

During the proceedings, the prosecution introduced two original compositions that Flynn reportedly created for Alleigha Botner, 24, with one of the songs produced using artificial intelligence technology. The ballads contain emotional lyrics alluding to the couple’s relationship, including references to anniversaries and enduring affection.

As the music played in the courtroom, footage showed members of Ashley Flynn’s family suppressing laughter while Flynn appeared visibly uncomfortable, wiping sweat from his forehead. The defense has not publicly responded to the presentation of the songs.

Flynn, a father of two, is accused of killing his wife after what prosecutors describe as a prolonged extramarital affair with Botner. The case centers on events that unfolded at the Flynn family home in February, leading to Ashley Flynn’s death by a head gunshot wound.

The trial continues as the court examines evidence surrounding the motive and circumstances of the shooting. Legal representatives for Flynn have disputed aspects of the prosecution’s account but have not commented in detail on the love songs introduced as part of the evidence.
