Kuwait Times commemorated its anniversary with a special print edition and an exhibition highlighting the dedication of its editorial and design teams. The anniversary edition featured a redesigned layout crafted under the leadership of Head of Visual Design Omar Al-Nakib, who collaborated closely with the newspaper’s editorial staff and intern Saud Zamanan to bring the project to fruition. The team worked late into the night, with Zamanan recalling their efforts extending until 3:30 a.m., praising the expertise and commitment of the editorial and page-making teams.
Managing Editor Shakir Reshamwala described the production of the special edition as an “intense labor of love,” noting the long hours and late-night work that culminated in a moment of satisfaction when the edition was finally printed. Reshamwala acknowledged the ongoing dedication of current and former staff members who have contributed to the newspaper’s continuous operation, describing their collective efforts as running “like a well-oiled machine.”
The accompanying exhibition served as a platform for past interns to showcase their work to a broader audience. Among those participating was intern Fahad Alateeq, who expressed pride in seeing a film he had created during his internship displayed at the event. “Kuwait Times feels like a second home,” Alateeq said, emphasizing the positive experience he had in learning and building relationships with colleagues. Another intern, Asma Abu Baker Ilyas, played a key role in documenting the event by managing the photography room and distributing disposable cameras to attendees, a section that became so popular the cameras were quickly depleted.
In addition to the special edition and exhibition, the anniversary event marked the launch of new merchandise, including a coffee table book designed by Al-Nakib. The new products generated significant interest, causing the online payment portal to crash multiple times due to high demand.
Throughout the celebration, Social Media Manager Ahmad Jabr worked alongside the team to amplify the milestone through Kuwait Times’ digital channels. He highlighted the importance of teamwork, noting that collaborating with motivated and skilled colleagues facilitates the newspaper’s mission “to be the voice of Kuwait at home and abroad.”
