Qatar is expanding opportunities for women to enter military and security careers through specialized academic and training programs offered by the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Interior. These efforts are overseen by the Joint Committee for Selecting Candidates for Officer and Other Ranks in Military Entities, operating under the Permanent Unified Committee for the Selection of Officer Candidates for Military Entities.

The initiative aims to enhance the role of Qatari women by providing education and training designed to prepare them for technical and security-related roles within the armed forces and other security agencies. One key offering is a Technical Institute Diploma provided by the Ministry of Defence in partnership with the University of Doha for Science and Technology. This diploma, accredited by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, integrates academic study with practical training and military discipline to equip women with specialized technical skills required by the armed forces.

In parallel, the Ministry of Interior runs a two-year Police Sciences Diploma program. This course is designed to develop participants’ police and security knowledge and skills, ensuring they are well-prepared to fulfill professional duties within the security sector.

These programs illustrate the commitment of Qatar’s defence and interior ministries to fostering the development of qualified Qatari women and creating professional pathways tailored to the needs of military and security entities. Through expanded training and education opportunities, the government is working to increase female participation in fields traditionally dominated by men while addressing the evolving requirements of its defence and internal security forces.
