The United States Golf Association (USGA) has issued detailed guidance for spectators attending the 126th U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club this week. Organizers are encouraging fans to use public transportation and other services to manage expected traffic congestion and ensure a smooth experience.

Train travel is being promoted as a preferred option, with Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) providing service to Shinnecock Hills via the Montauk line. Schedules are available on the LIRR website for those planning to arrive by rail.

For attendees arriving by car from the west, parking is available at the Blue Lot located at Calverton Airfield. This lot opens at 5:30 a.m. and offers complimentary shuttle buses to Gate 1 of the event. Additionally, Blade is offering helicopter transport from New York City, Westchester, and New Jersey, with flights landing at the Shinnecock Nation Powwow Grounds. Tickets for the helicopter service can be purchased through the Blade website.

The USGA has outlined a list of prohibited items to ensure safety and maintain the integrity of the event. Weapons of any kind, including firearms and knives regardless of permits, explosives, fireworks, drones, and noise-producing devices are banned. Cameras—including point-and-shoot, film, and DSLR types—are not allowed, except for personal use from Monday through Wednesday. Tablets and computers are also prohibited, although mobile devices smaller than seven inches are permitted subject to certain restrictions. Other banned items include selfie sticks, handheld camera stabilizers, signs, banners, sports memorabilia, food and beverages (with exceptions for medical or infant needs), lounge or oversized chairs, ladders, step stools, and personal transportation devices like bicycles, scooters, and Segways, except for those used by individuals with mobility disabilities.

The Merchandise Pavilion is located in the Fan Central area and remains open daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fans bringing mobile devices are requested to keep them on silent or vibrate mode and limit phone calls to areas away from the field of play. The USGA prohibits live streaming or shot-by-shot coverage of players during the tournament.

Concessions will be available throughout the course, including in the Fan Central area, providing attendees with various food and beverage options in accordance with the event’s policies.
