Hundreds of Spider-Man fans gathered at New York Comic Con to try and break the Guinness World Record for the largest group dressed as the superhero. Although preliminary counts suggest they narrowly missed the record of 685 set in 2023, the event underscored Spider-Man’s lasting appeal among convention attendees.

Hundreds of Spider-Man enthusiasts gathered at New York Comic Con on Thursday in an effort to break the Guinness World Record for the largest assembly of individuals dressed as the iconic superhero. The event was organised jointly by toy manufacturer Jazwares and Disney Consumer Products.

Participants donned various Spider-Man costumes in the attempt to surpass the existing record of 685 costumed individuals. That record was established in 2023 by Sony Pictures Entertainment Malaysia to mark the release of the film "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse."

While the organisers have not yet provided an official final count, preliminary reports indicated that the total number of participants fell just short of the required figure to break the record. The gathering highlighted the enduring popularity of the character among fans attending the annual convention in New York City.
