State Minister for Youth and Sports Md. Aminul Haque emphasized the importance of sports in addressing mobile phone addiction among children and fostering a disciplined society. He made his remarks on Friday during the inauguration of the second Junior Karate Championship at the Mirpur Indoor Stadium.

The event marks the return of the Junior Karate Championship after a 15-year hiatus, drawing 1,302 athletes representing 79 teams. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Aminul Haque highlighted the necessity of engaging children in physical activities as a constructive alternative to excessive mobile phone use.

He noted that while children demonstrate strong interest in sports, they often lack sufficient opportunities and an enabling environment to participate fully. The Minister’s comments reflect a broader effort to encourage youth involvement in sports to promote healthier lifestyles and community discipline. The championship aims to provide a platform for young athletes to develop their skills and compete at a high level, contributing to this goal.
