Sporting Club Inkberrow secured a commanding 4-0 victory over Portland United in their latest league encounter, strengthening their push for promotion. The match took place on Saturday at Portland’s home ground.
The visitors opened the scoring in the 37th minute after a sustained attacking spell. Connor Stanley made an incisive run toward goal but was pushed wide by Portland defender Toby Stainer-Reed. Stanley then delivered a pass to Gregor Guy, whose initial shot was heroically blocked on the line by goalkeeper Jacob Coombs. However, Aiden Clark reacted quickly to slot home the rebound and give Inkberrow the lead.
Just two minutes later, Clark doubled the advantage by heading in a precise cross from Jack Brighton, putting Sporting Club into a comfortable position before the break. The second half saw Inkberrow continue their dominance, with Jay Higgins-Pugsley adding a third goal in the 69th minute to further extend the lead.
Despite Portland United’s efforts, their most notable opportunities came through Joshua Camp and Archie Woolford, both of whose attempts were denied by Inkberrow’s goalkeeper Brendon Bunn. The home side’s troubles compounded late in the match when Tom Emblem made it 4-0 for Sporting Club Inkberrow.
Clark was widely regarded as the standout performer for the visitors, contributing both goals and playing a key role in the team’s offensive pressure throughout the match. The victory marks a significant step for Sporting Club Inkberrow as they continue their campaign to secure promotion this season.
