The Journal of Engineering Research (TJER), published by Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), has improved its international standing by achieving a CiteScore of 1.5 and advancing to the third quartile (Q3) ranking in the field of general engineering. This marks a significant rise of 15 positions compared to the previous year, reflecting the journal’s increasing scientific impact and its growing presence in the global research community.

The upgraded ranking underscores the journal’s ability to attract specialized research contributions from both domestic and international researchers, highlighting its role as a key platform for disseminating engineering knowledge. The achievement is seen as an important milestone in TJER’s development, marking recognition for its scientific quality and influence.

Prof. Amer bin Saif al Hinai, SQU’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Postgraduate Studies and Research, noted that the advancement to Q3 demonstrates the university’s strategic focus on enhancing its research visibility in global academic indicators. He described the progress as indicative of SQU’s commitment to generating specialized knowledge with practical and academic relevance, particularly in the fields of engineering and technology.

Prof. al Hinai highlighted that the journal’s rising profile strengthens the university’s ability to engage with the international research community and showcases Omani contributions to the scientific and technological sectors. He further emphasized that this progress supports SQU’s competitiveness and broadens opportunities for collaboration with universities and research institutions worldwide.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor affirmed that the university continues to prioritize investment in scientific research and academic publishing as a core component of its strategy. According to him, these efforts play a critical role in advancing research and innovation, aligning with national priorities and raising the overall scientific impact of the university’s research output.
