Sri Lanka’s Cabinet has approved a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation between the National Cadet Corps of Sri Lanka and its counterpart in India. The agreement aims to facilitate exchange programs and joint activities designed to promote specialised training and leadership development among cadet members from both countries.

The MoU will formalize ongoing youth exchange initiatives between the two institutions, which have played a role in strengthening bilateral ties. Under the new framework, cadet members from Sri Lanka and India will participate in collaborative programmes focused on leadership skills and specialised training exercises.

Officials from both countries view the agreement as a step toward deepening mutual understanding and cooperation through youth engagement. The partnership reflects the broader commitment of Sri Lanka and India to foster closer defence and security collaboration as well as cultural and educational exchanges between their peoples.
