St Albans City secured a 4-1 victory over Stanway Rovers at Clarence Park, ending a recent winless run and picking up nine points from their last five matches.

Stanway Rovers opened the scoring early, taking the lead within the first ten minutes. After a corner kick was not cleared by St Albans, Stephen Toussaint seized the opportunity and scored with a precise finish. However, the home side responded quickly. Six minutes later, Kai Brown equalized, benefiting from a well-delivered cross by Zak Sowden-Fletcher to strike first-time into the net.

As the first half progressed, St Albans gained the advantage through Mikey Faulkner. The winger cut inside from the left flank and curled a shot into the far corner just before halftime. Faulkner then earned a penalty shortly before the break but was denied by Stanway’s goalkeeper Dion Henry, who saved the spot-kick.

The second half saw Stanway Rovers control possession but struggle to create significant chances against a resolute St Albans defense. With around ten minutes remaining, St Albans extended their lead in an unexpected moment. Alex Dyer delivered a precise free-kick into the penalty area, finding Remi Sutton, who converted from close range to make it 3-1.

In the closing stages, substitute Inih Effiong added a fourth goal following a defensive error by the visitors. Effiong collected the ball inside the box, evaded two defenders, and finished confidently to seal the win.

The result marked a positive turnaround for St Albans City as they look to build momentum in the current campaign.
