St Albans City secured a 1-0 victory over Carshalton Athletic at the War Memorial Ground on Saturday, maintaining their pursuit of a play-off position in the league standings. The decisive goal arrived midway through the second half, enabling St Albans to claim all three points against the home side.

The match was tightly contested, with limited clear scoring opportunities from either side. St Albans suffered an early setback when defender Frankie Musonda was forced off due to injury after 24 minutes and was replaced by Darion Furlong. Despite the disruption, St Albans maintained their defensive organization and controlled key moments of the game.

Carshalton’s Fabio Saraiva tested the visitors’ goalkeeper but was unable to find the target, firing wide in the first half. Meanwhile, Zak Sowden-Fletcher of St Albans had a shot comfortably saved by Carshalton’s Ben Dudzinski. The second half saw few notable chances, with Dudzinski making two routine saves in the opening ten minutes from Oliver Knight and Jake Gray.

The game’s only goal came from a set-piece situation. Montserrat international Dyer, the island’s most capped player, delivered a low cross from a corner into the penalty area. Darion Furlong, also representing Montserrat internationally, connected with the ball, driving it into the ground and sending it into the top of the net. This effort proved decisive as Carshalton struggled to penetrate the robust St Albans defense for the remainder of the match.

With the win, St Albans City moved to within two points of the play-off places, while Carshalton Athletic, despite the loss, remained four points ahead in the league table. The result leaves St Albans just outside a potential four-way tie at the summit of the standings but keeps them firmly in contention for the promotion race as the season progresses.
