The St. Louis Cardinals elevated Bill DeWitt III to the position of chief executive officer on Wednesday, following his tenure as team president since 2008. DeWitt’s promotion marks a continuation of his long-standing leadership role within the organization.

In conjunction with this change, the Cardinals announced the appointment of Anuk Karunaratne as president of business operations. This move is part of a broader organizational restructuring that followed the hiring of Chaim Bloom as president of baseball operations in September 2025.

During his time with the Cardinals, DeWitt played a significant role in major developments, including overseeing the opening of Busch Stadium in 2006. He was also instrumental in the development and launch of Ballpark Village, overseeing Phase I in 2014 and Phase II in 2020, projects that have contributed to the organization's business growth and community presence.

The reshuffling of executive roles within the Cardinals reflects the team’s ongoing effort to strengthen both its baseball and business operations, with Bloom focusing on the former and Karunaratne taking on expanded responsibilities in the latter under DeWitt’s leadership.
