Stability AI, a company focused on developing artificial intelligence products for professional creatives in music, gaming, and entertainment, has secured $76 million in a Series B funding round. This latest capital injection increases the company’s total funding to $232 million since Prem Akkaraju took over as chief executive in June 2024.

The new funding will be used to advance the development of Stability AI’s suite of creative production tools, enhance its applied research capabilities, and expand its professional services offering. The round also introduced several new investors, including Electronic Arts, Sony Music Group, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, AMD Ventures, and Pacific Alliance Ventures. Existing strategic partners such as Electronic Arts, Universal Music Group, and Warner Music Group also participated in the round.

Akkaraju emphasized that the diverse group of investors affirms Stability AI’s vision of generative AI empowering creators across various media, describing the company as one built by creative professionals for creative professionals. He noted the company’s commitment to producing tools that serve musicians, producers, and storytellers.

Alongside the new investors, established backers including Coatue, Greycroft, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and WPP, as well as individuals such as Sean Parker, Eric Schmidt, and James Cameron, contributed to the round. Several of these investors, including Coatue, Greycroft, Kadmos Capital, Parker, and Schmidt, participated for a consecutive round under the company’s new leadership, while WPP has remained a strategic partner and investor throughout.

Thomas Laffont, Co-Founder of Coatue, joined Stability AI’s board following the funding round. The board also features Cameron, Parker, and Dana Settle of Greycroft. Laffont highlighted the company’s collaborative approach, building creative tools in partnership with artists, studios, and rights holders who play key roles in defining the creative landscape.

The funding announcement follows the recent rollout of Stable Audio 3.0, a collection of open-weight music models developed using fully licensed data. This new offering is accessible via a dedicated digital audio workstation (DAW) plugin or through the company’s website, StableAudio.com.
