The Dallas Stars have made their first roster moves of the summer by signing defensemen Kyle Capobianco and Luke Krys to two-year contracts. The team announced that Capobianco agreed to a two-year, one-way deal valued at $850,000 in the first year and $900,000 in the second, securing his place with the Stars through the 2027-28 season. Krys signed a two-year, two-way contract.

Capobianco, 28, has spent much of his eight-year professional career moving between the NHL and AHL. However, he earned his longest stint with the Dallas Stars during the 2025-26 season, appearing in 33 games. Over that span, Capobianco recorded two goals, three assists, and averaged 12:08 of ice time per game. The former third-round draft pick is expected to bolster the Stars’ third defensive pairing, bringing a combination of defensive skill and offensive ability. This marks Capobianco’s second contract with Dallas since joining the team as a free agent on July 1, 2024. His one-way deal ensures he will receive the same salary regardless of whether he plays in the NHL or is assigned to the minors.

Luke Krys, who has played exclusively in the AHL with the Texas Stars, appeared in 40 regular-season games last year, registering 16 points. He ranked third among defensemen on the team with seven goals and tied for the team lead in playoff scoring among defensemen, with two points in five games. The undrafted defenseman first joined the organization through a contract signed on March 19, 2024, and has now completed 113 career AHL appearances, all with the Texas Stars.

These signings underline Dallas’ focus on adding depth and experience to their defensive corps, aiming to strengthen the team's lineup ahead of the upcoming seasons.
