The Maharashtra state government has announced a new initiative to provide free access to clean toilets at all bus stations operated by the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC). This decision addresses ongoing complaints regarding the cleanliness of state transport buses and their terminals.
Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik stated that comprehensive measures are being implemented to transform bus stations and maintain long-term sanitation standards. Beginning June 1, all restrooms at MSRTC bus stations will be available free of charge to passengers. The move aims to enhance the travel experience by ensuring access to hygienic and quality sanitation facilities.
Sarnaik emphasized that it is the administration’s responsibility to provide passengers with clean and well-maintained amenities. The initiative is part of broader efforts to improve public transportation infrastructure and respond to passenger concerns about facility upkeep.
The free toilet access policy will be implemented across the network of MSRTC bus stations statewide. Officials hope that these steps will not only improve hygiene but also encourage greater use of public transportation services by fostering a more comfortable travel environment.
