A Staten Island man was arrested Monday in connection with an incident involving a 14-year-old girl who was allegedly lured from a bus stop and subjected to sexual assault during a cab ride.

Lowman Venable, 46, who has a criminal history including 20 previous arrests, was charged with attempted kidnapping, forcible touching, endangering the welfare of a child, and unlawful imprisonment. The incident took place on Saturday, when Venable reportedly convinced the teenager to enter a taxi, transporting her approximately five miles before committing the assault, according to law enforcement officials.

Authorities said Venable was at large for two days before being apprehended early Monday morning after officers observed him drinking on a street in Staten Island. Following his arrest, Venable was held on $75,000 bail or $150,000 bond as ordered by the court.

The investigation remains ongoing as prosecutors and police continue to piece together the details of the case.
