U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump hosted Chinese President Xi Jinping and First Lady Peng Liyuan during a visit to the National Archives in Washington, D.C. The event took place as part of President Xi’s diplomatic trip to the United States.

During the visit, the two leaders were escorted up the steps of the National Archives building, which houses foundational documents of the United States, including the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. Inside the building, President Trump pointed out one of the exhibits to President Xi, providing a moment of historical significance in the exchange between the two leaders.

Following their visit, President Xi and the first lady departed from Joint Base Andrews en route back to Beijing, concluding this phase of their diplomatic engagement. The agreement between the countries and any further outcomes from the visit were not detailed.
