Strips Fit, a seasoned racehorse competing in Australia, appears poised to secure a third win in what will be the seventh race of its career. The 3-year-old and older thoroughbred recently returned to competition after a significant spell of nearly two years.
On September 24, Strips Fit participated in a Benchmark 78 event over 1200 meters at Warwick Farm Racecourse. The horse, carrying 58 kilograms and ridden by jockey Wadsick, finished 11th out of 16 starters. The race, conducted on a soft track, was completed in a time of 1 minute 9.27 seconds, with the final 600 meters covered in 34.24 seconds. Strips Fit trailed for much of the race, positioned last until passing the 800-meter mark and ranked 10th at the final turn. The race was won by Fire Star, followed by Sicentav and Victory Lane.
Prior to this outing, Strips Fit demonstrated encouraging form in a trial at Moruya on August 28, where it finished third, 2-1/2 lengths behind the winner Sweet Harry over 920 meters on a good track. The trial was conducted at barrier three and served as a fitness run ahead of the horse’s return to competitive racing.
This campaign marks Strips Fit’s first under new trainer Lim, who took over training duties in New South Wales following a transfer from previous trainer Matthew Dale. The extended layoff of 98 weeks indicates a considerable break from the track, with connections opting to use the recent trial as a gauge of the horse’s readiness to resume racing duties.
Observers will be monitoring Strips Fit’s performance closely to assess its capacity to regain competitive form following the lengthy hiatus and transition to a new training regime.
