An 18-year-old student has been charged with murder after stabbing a fellow university student five times, including once in the heart, following a dispute over money, a court has heard.

At Leicester Crown Court, prosecutor Jane Osborne KC outlined that Harper Dennis allegedly attacked 20-year-old Khaleed Oladipo near De Montfort University in February. Dennis is accused of fatally stabbing Oladipo with a knife driven approximately 13 centimeters into his chest during the incident.

The prosecution said the two had fallen out over a financial matter prior to the attack. In addition to the murder charge, Dennis faces accusations of possessing a bladed article and failing to provide the personal identification number (PIN) for his mobile phone when requested.

Dennis appeared in the dock as the allegations were presented, and the trial remains ongoing. Further details and testimonies are expected as proceedings continue.
