At least 31 people were killed and close to 100 others injured in a suicide bombing targeting a mosque in Kohat city, located in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The attack occurred during Friday prayers at approximately 1:15 p.m. local time.

The mosque, which is used by police officers and their families, was the focus of the assault when an explosive-laden vehicle crashed into its entrance. Following the explosion, gunmen engaged in a firefight with security forces as they attempted to penetrate the nearby police compound.

A faction of the Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, marking it as part of ongoing militant activity in the region. Authorities have not released further details regarding casualties or the identities of the perpetrators. Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene to provide medical aid and secure the area.
