Suki Waterhouse, the British model-turned-musician and actress, has been balancing a demanding tour schedule with motherhood, navigating the complexities of parenting on the road. The 34-year-old, who shares a two-and-a-half-year-old daughter with her fiancé, actor Robert Pattinson, recently discussed how she manages life as both a touring artist and a mother.
Currently on her Loveland tour, Waterhouse performs most nights in various U.S. cities, including Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and Texas, among others. Her stage presence is marked by a distinctive rock-and-roll style, featuring costume elements like a gold cape reminiscent of Stevie Nicks and glittery accents, reflecting the retro, Seventies-inspired vibe of her music. The backdrop of her performances often includes thematic decor such as a glittering anatomical heart and red roses.
Despite the glamour of touring, Waterhouse faces unique challenges as a mother. She noted the difficulty of finding suitable baby cots for her daughter on tour buses, discovering only one model that fit into the bus’s compact sleeping area. Following each night’s show, she returns to a tour bus decorated with fairy lights and character-themed items, where her daughter would normally be sleeping according to a structured schedule. With her own mother providing childcare support, Waterhouse balances her performance itinerary with the demands of parenting.
Waterhouse’s entry into the public eye began as a Burberry model in the early 2010s, later transitioning into acting with notable roles such as in the 2023 series “Daisy Jones & the Six.” In recent years, her music career has taken precedence, garnering significant popularity with 13 million monthly listeners on Spotify. In 2024, she released her second album shortly before giving birth and managed to perform at Coachella just six weeks after delivery.
In addition to performing, Waterhouse has also been managing other practical aspects of life on the road, such as arranging primary school enrollment for her daughter amid constant travel. A recent setback occurred when her nanny had to return to the UK due to health reasons, leaving Waterhouse and her mother to handle childcare during the tour while she seeks alternative support.
Waterhouse described her approach to motherhood as structured and organized, reflecting what she characterized as a “millennial” parenting style. She emphasized the importance of maintaining a consistent schedule for her daughter, crediting it with helping to balance the “craziness and chaos” of touring. She also spoke candidly about the physical and emotional demands of being apart from her child during long periods on the road.
Waterhouse and Pattinson, whose work since mid-2024 has encompassed multiple film projects including “Die My Love” and “The Batman: Part II,” have adapted to a highly mobile lifestyle. Since becoming parents, the couple frequently moves between rental homes across London, New York, Los Angeles, and New Orleans, rarely settling in one place for extended periods.
While the couple has not publicly disclosed their daughter's name, Waterhouse’s reflections reveal how motherhood remains a central and grounding aspect of her life, even amid the shifting demands of an entertainment career.
