The Sultan Qaboos Comprehensive Cancer Care and Research Centre (SQCCCRC) in Muscat has retained its international accreditation granted by the Joint Commission International (JCI), according to the results of a recent global assessment. The centre, which is part of University Medical City, first received the JCI accreditation in June 2023 and remains the only government health institution in Oman to hold this designation.

The JCI accreditation process involves a thorough evaluation of a healthcare facility’s operations, focusing on areas such as patient safety, clinical service quality, governance and leadership, risk management, infection control, staff performance, medication management, and the overall healthcare environment. Institutions must demonstrate ongoing improvements to maintain this status.

By sustaining this accreditation, the SQCCCRC signals its commitment to meeting internationally recognized standards in cancer care and research, reinforcing its role as a leading provider of specialized healthcare services in the Sultanate.
