The Sultan Qaboos Comprehensive Cancer Care and Research Centre (SQCCCRC) in Muscat has successfully retained its international accreditation from the Joint Commission International (JCI), following a recent global assessment. The centre, part of the University Medical City, first received this recognition in June 2023 and remains the only government healthcare institution in Oman to hold the JCI accreditation.

JCI accreditation evaluates healthcare organisations on various critical aspects including patient safety, quality of clinical care, governance and leadership, risk management, infection control, staff performance, medication management, the healthcare environment, and continual improvement efforts. Maintaining this status affirms SQCCCRC’s commitment to upholding international standards in cancer care and research.

The accreditation process involves a thorough examination of the institution’s healthcare systems and protocols, ensuring they meet stringent global criteria designed to enhance service delivery and patient outcomes. By maintaining this recognition, the Sultan Qaboos centre continues to demonstrate its dedication to providing advanced and safe oncology services within Oman’s public health sector.
