Muscat hosted the 25th meeting of the Committee of E-Learning Officials from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) universities and higher education institutions on Monday, with Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) representing Oman as the event’s organizer. The opening ceremony was presided over by His Highness Sayyid Dr. Fahd bin Al Julanda al Said, Vice-Chancellor of SQU.

The gathering brought together representatives from 32 universities and higher education entities across GCC member states. The primary focus was to strengthen collaboration and coordination in the development and implementation of e-learning and teaching systems. Participants shared expertise and best practices aimed at advancing digital education frameworks within the region.

In his remarks, Salim bin Jabir al Waeli, Director of the SQU Educational Technologies Centre, emphasized the meeting’s objective to reinforce established mechanisms for cooperation among GCC higher education institutions. Discussions also included outlining future strategies and approaches planned by the Committee to further enhance e-learning capabilities.

The event highlighted the ongoing commitment among GCC countries to adopt innovative educational technologies and promote knowledge exchange to support the evolving needs of higher education.
