Summit LNG Terminal Co Ltd (SLNG) has marked a significant milestone by completing its 300th ship-to-ship transfer at its floating storage and regasification terminal located in Moheshkhali, Cox’s Bazar. The accomplishment was announced in a company statement issued on Sunday.
Since beginning operations on April 30, 2019, the terminal has received a total of 41.85 million cubic metres of liquefied natural gas (LNG). Over this period, SLNG has supplied approximately 945.34 million MMBtu of regasified LNG to Bangladesh’s national gas grid, playing a crucial role in supporting the country’s energy infrastructure.
In the fiscal year 2025-26 alone, the terminal contributed about 18% of Bangladesh’s total gas demand. The company highlighted that this output has been instrumental in strengthening national energy security.
SLNG acknowledged the contributions of its operational partners, including Excelerate Energy and PSA Marine, as well as the government and state-owned entities such as Petrobangla and the Rural Power Generation Company Limited (RPGCL). Additionally, the company expressed gratitude to foreign lenders, engineering and classification firms, LNG suppliers, and regulatory bodies for their ongoing cooperation and support.
The terminal’s continued operation is expected to remain a key component in Bangladesh’s efforts to diversify its energy sources and meet growing domestic demand.
