O’Nien, 31, who featured at centre-back during the game, described the tour as a valuable part of the team’s preparation. He noted the physical challenge posed by the warm conditions, contrasting them with the climate in Sunderland’s native North East England. “I think it’s only going to help us with our fitness as we get back to England,” he said, highlighting the benefits of adapting to the hotter environment.
