A man dressed as Batman pursued a suspected thief in Norwich last month after witnessing a handbag theft outside a nightclub. Sonni Mason, 25, was attending a fancy dress party in a Batman costume when he spotted the incident while waiting in a queue.
Mason was accompanied by others similarly dressed as comic book characters, including one person as Mister Fantastic from the Fantastic Four and another as Poison Ivy, a character from the Batman series. Together, they initiated a chase after the suspected thief.
The group flagged down nearby police officers during the pursuit. Although they caught up with the suspect, the stolen handbag was no longer in his possession.
Following a tip, the bag was found approximately 300 metres from the initial theft location. It had been left on top of a tall flint wall near the perimeter of Norwich Cathedral. After unsuccessful attempts to retrieve the bag from the wall, Mason, still wearing his Batman costume, climbed the structure and recovered the handbag.
