Hasbro reported a stronger-than-expected third-quarter performance, driven largely by robust sales of its Magic: The Gathering trading-card game. The company posted earnings of $2.77 per share for the quarter ended September 27, up from $1.64 per share in the same period last year. Adjusted earnings per share, excluding one-time items, reached $2.90, surpassing analysts’ expectations of $1.86.
The performance reflects a 15% increase in net revenue to $1.6 billion, exceeding the $1.48 billion anticipated by analysts. Sales of the Magic: The Gathering brand alone surpassed $600 million for the quarter, representing a 34% increase from the prior year and setting a new record, according to Hasbro Chief Executive Chris Cocks. He stated that the company anticipates continued growth in 2027, fueled by six major product releases backed by expanded production capacity and growing fan and retail engagement.
Beyond Magic, Hasbro saw higher sales across its broader consumer-products and entertainment segments, including key brands such as Nerf and Transformers. The company subsequently raised its full-year revenue outlook, now forecasting a 7% to 9% increase on a constant currency basis, up from an earlier projection of 5% to 7%. Cocks noted that the company is entering the holiday season with positive momentum.
Despite the strong results, Hasbro acknowledged ongoing challenges related to increased shipping costs driven by higher oil prices. However, these pressures have been partially mitigated by tariff refunds and a more stable trade environment, according to Gina Goetter, the company’s chief financial officer and chief operating officer. Goetter emphasized the company’s focus on maintaining a reliable supply chain and managing inventory levels effectively as the year closes.
Hasbro also updated its earnings guidance, raising its adjusted full-year EBITDA forecast to a range of $1.58 billion to $1.63 billion, up from the previous $1.45 billion to $1.5 billion. Additionally, the company doubled its share repurchase target for 2026 to $400 million.
Following the earnings release, Hasbro’s shares rose 11% to $109.52 in Tuesday trading, extending the stock’s year-to-date gain to nearly 34%.
