Ventura County authorities have arrested a suspect in a nearly decade-old case involving a group sexual assault in Simi Valley. Ricardo Jimenez-Garcia, 39, was taken into custody last month in connection with an attack that occurred in the early morning hours of September 21, 2017.

According to prosecutors, the victim was walking to work around 4 a.m. when she was assaulted by several men dressed in Ghostface masks, resembling the iconic character from the “Scream” film series. The victim reported that the attackers were armed with a knife during the violent incident.

The arrest marks the first significant development in the case since the assault nearly ten years ago. While the district attorney’s office has not disclosed the specific evidence or investigative breakthrough that led to the recent arrest, officials have called on the public to come forward with any additional information about Jimenez-Garcia, the 2017 attack, or any other incidents that may be related.

Court documents indicate that Jimenez-Garcia faces charges of rape and sodomy. He has pleaded not guilty to the allegations.

The investigation into the assault remains active as authorities continue seeking further leads in the case.
