Swansea City climbed to the top of the Championship following a 2-1 comeback victory against Lincoln City at the ProAmpac Stadium on Saturday. After trailing at halftime, the Swans overturned Lincoln’s lead with two swift goals early in the second half, ending the home side’s five-match unbeaten run.

Lincoln took the lead in the 39th minute when Reeco Hackett converted a penalty awarded after Josh Tymon fouled Freddie Draper. The home side had dominated the first half, applying pressure around Swansea’s goal and controlling much of the play. Lincoln goalkeeper George Wickens was tested early, notably reacting quickly to deny a long-range lob by Swansea’s Elijah Just, while Swansea goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux had to make several important saves to keep his team in the game.

The match shifted momentum immediately after the break. Melker Widell set up the equalizer in the 47th minute by delivering a precise cross from the right flank, which Moussa Yeo finished from close range. Just minutes later, Canada international Stephen Eustaquio, who scored his first goal for Swansea, struck a long-range shot that took a deflection and evaded Wickens, putting the visitors ahead.

Swansea maintained pressure in the closing stages, with Widell narrowly missing another scoring opportunity and later providing a key pass to teammate Ronald, whose shot was saved by Wickens. Despite Lincoln’s efforts to respond, they were unable to find an equalizer.

Swansea coach Vitor Matos emphasized the importance of remaining focused despite the strong league position, noting the number of games left in the season and the difficulty of succeeding at Lincoln’s ground. “It’s a nice feeling to be top of the table, but we know there is a lot still to compete for,” he said.

Lincoln City’s joint-head coach Tom Shaw acknowledged his team’s strong first-half display and overall performance but accepted Swansea’s superior play in the second half. “We’re delighted with the level of performance, especially in the first half,” Shaw said. “Everyone wrote us off before we kicked a ball, but we are here to make it difficult for every opponent — and that’s what we are doing.”

The result halted Lincoln’s attempt to reach their highest-ever Championship position since 1902, while Swansea’s victory marked their third consecutive away league win, consolidating their place atop the table.
