Non-league side Boreham Wood have turned down a £1 million offer from Swedish top-tier club Djurgarden for forward Abdul Abdulmalik. The bid matches the record transfer fee for the division, previously set by Jamie Vardy’s move from Fleetwood Town to Leicester City in 2012.

Abdulmalik, 23, is considered Boreham Wood’s key player. He played a pivotal role in the National League play-off final held at Wembley in May, scoring and assisting during the match that ended 2-2 before Boreham Wood lost 3-1 on penalties to Rochdale. The forward developed through Millwall’s academy and has experience representing England at the under-17 level. After being released by Millwall two years ago, he signed with Boreham Wood and has since made a significant impact.

Djurgarden, currently placed third in the Swedish Allsvenskan, have expressed strong interest in acquiring Abdulmalik this summer. The club has submitted multiple bids, with their recruitment process overseen by sporting director Max Hahn, who previously held a role at West Ham.
