Syrian Transport Minister Yarub Badr met with Ibrahim bin Ali Al-Balushi, CEO of Oman Automotive Industries Co., to discuss enhancing cooperation and investment opportunities within Syria’s transport sector. The meeting took place on Sunday at the Ministry of Transport headquarters in Damascus, focusing on bus supply and manufacturing, modern transport solutions, and logistics services.

During the talks, Badr highlighted the importance of strengthening ties with Oman and other Arab countries to leverage their expertise in modernizing Syria’s transport fleet. He also emphasized the potential role of digital applications in facilitating transport services and improving operational efficiency.

Al-Balushi expressed his company’s interest in exploring investment opportunities in the Syrian market, aiming to establish sustainable partnerships to address the sector’s needs and expand the presence of Omani industry within regional markets.

Oman Automotive Industries, which began production in 2021, specializes in manufacturing various types of buses, including urban transport buses, school buses, and intercity coaches. The company’s facility is located in the Duqm Special Economic Zone, and it is actively diversifying its production line to include armored vehicles.

The Syrian transport sector faces ongoing challenges, including the need to modernize its bus fleet, improve service efficiency, and integrate digital transport management solutions. Authorities see these requirements as key areas where collaboration with specialized vehicle manufacturers and transport technology firms could boost industrial and technical capabilities.

The meeting reflects broader efforts to attract regional investment and expertise to support the development of Syria’s transportation infrastructure, addressing long-term goals for economic recovery and modernization.
