Two Syrian migrants have been sentenced to 11 years in prison for sexually assaulting an intoxicated teenager in Cheshire, England. The incident took place in the early hours of December 21, 2025, following a night out at a nightclub.

According to court proceedings at Chester Crown Court, Dilgash Adil, 32, who was granted refugee status after arriving in the UK in 2020, supplied the 18-year-old victim with alcohol until she became heavily intoxicated. After initiating the assault at the accommodation of his friend, asylum seeker Diyar Mohammed Abdulsalm, 28, Adil reportedly invited Abdulsalm to engage in similar conduct. The assaults occurred while the victim repeatedly lost consciousness.

The two men had offered the victim and a male companion a lift home from the nightclub. The male friend exited the vehicle near his residence, but the Syrian men drove off with the passenger door open, leaving the intoxicated woman in the car. The victim called her mother shortly thereafter, distressed and uncertain about what had happened. Both men were apprehended later that same day.

In her victim impact statement, the woman described ongoing trauma including panic attacks, difficulty sleeping, heightened anxiety around strangers, and a general loss of safety. Both defendants denied the charges, asserting the encounters were consensual, but the jury convicted them last month after a trial.

Adil, previously a shepherd in Syria before fleeing the civil war, was found guilty of one count of rape. Abdulsalm, who had claimed asylum in the UK in 2023 and whose immigration status was still under review at the time of the offenses, was convicted of two counts of rape.

Sentencing both men to 11 years, Judge Simon Berkson emphasized that the victim was not in a condition to consent, noting she was “in and out of consciousness” during the assaults.
