Tajikistan and Kuwait are experiencing steady growth in their bilateral relations, anchored in mutual respect, political dialogue, and a partnership aimed at practical and economic cooperation. This was emphasized by Khusrav Noziri, the Tajik ambassador to Kuwait, during a ceremony held Tuesday in Kuwait City commemorating Tajikistan’s 35th Independence Day.
The event, hosted by the Embassy of Tajikistan, drew attendance from senior Kuwaiti officials, including Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan and Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs Nawaf Al-Ahmad, alongside diplomats and members of the Tajik community. Noziri spoke of the celebration as not only a recognition of Tajikistan’s historical independence but also a moment to reflect on the country’s three-and-a-half decades of progress and look ahead with optimism.
Highlighting the special status Kuwait holds in Tajikistan’s foreign policy, Noziri noted that diplomatic ties were formally established on March 31, 1995. He recalled that just weeks after, President Emomali Rahmon made his inaugural official visit to Kuwait—a first for a Tajik leader to an Arab nation. More recently, President Rahmon’s visit in November 2024, including meetings with Kuwait’s Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, marked a key milestone that has invigorated cooperation and opened new avenues for collaboration.
Noziri pointed to the opening of the Kuwaiti Embassy in Dushanbe and the accreditation of Kuwait’s first resident ambassador as significant indicators of the deepening trust and intent to expand bilateral ties. He affirmed a shared commitment to translate this political goodwill into expanded economic and practical cooperation.
Areas of promising collaboration identified include trade, investment, infrastructure, agriculture, energy, and tourism. The ambassador also highlighted the upcoming fifth meeting of the Joint Governmental Committee for Economic, Trade, Scientific and Technical Cooperation in Dushanbe, which aims to strengthen business engagement and foster tangible outcomes benefiting both countries.
Expressing appreciation for Kuwait’s development support, Noziri acknowledged the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development’s role in advancing projects within Tajikistan, describing this partnership as a model of development solidarity.
Beyond formal agreements and projects, the ambassador underscored the importance of cultural and human ties, emphasizing historic bonds between the Tajik people and the Arab world. He reiterated Tajikistan’s dedication to working alongside Kuwait and other international partners to promote peace, stability, sustainable development, and shared prosperity.
