The luxury expedition cruise ship Scenic Eclipse II recently made its inaugural visit to London, marking a notable moment in the vessel’s itinerary. Moored near Greenwich Pier, the six-star ship offers an experience that contrasts sharply with the typical image of large, crowded cruise liners, focusing instead on exclusivity and high-end service.
The ship accommodates a maximum of 228 guests on most voyages, and limits capacity to 200 in polar regions. It boasts a nearly one-to-one staff-to-guest ratio, delivering highly personalized service. Each of the 114 suites includes butler service and private verandas, enabling passengers to enjoy unobstructed views of the destinations visited.
After docking in London, Scenic Eclipse II set out on a five-night journey to Hamburg, stopping in Ostend, Belgium, before cruising along the Elbe River. This itinerary is priced from £4,495 per person and reflects the ship’s ability to navigate less accessible routes due to its smaller size compared to conventional mega cruise ships.
The vessel is designed to appeal to travelers seeking both luxury and adventurous excursions. Its amenities include the ability to book trips on two onboard helicopters and a submersible, the Scenic Neptune II, for underwater exploration with panoramic views. These features broaden the range of experiences beyond traditional cruising.
Accommodation options range from Verandah Suites with king-size beds, marble bathrooms, and sitting areas, to expansive Owner’s Penthouse Suites featuring private spa tubs, living rooms with bars, and walk-in closets. All categories of stateroom come with inclusive in-room dining and butler services.
Onboard culinary offerings are diverse, supported by a team of 38 chefs. Guests have access to approximately ten dining venues, including options such as fine French and Italian cuisine, a sushi counter, and a teppanyaki grill. The ship maintains an all-inclusive policy regarding onboard dining and beverages for its guests.
Additional onboard facilities include pools, a full-service spa, fitness and yoga rooms, and a lecture theatre that hosts presentations, workshops, and entertainment, aimed at keeping guests engaged throughout their voyage. The navigation bridge remains accessible for the duration of the cruise, allowing guests to observe operations and interact with crew members, although direct control of the ship is not permitted.
