Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by actor-turned-politician C Joseph Vijay, unveiled its manifesto on Thursday ahead of the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The party outlined a range of welfare initiatives and economic proposals aimed at various sections of society.
Among the key welfare promises, the party pledged a monthly financial grant of ₹2,500 for female heads of households. In addition, beneficiaries would receive six free LPG cylinders annually and 8 grams of gold. The manifesto also includes plans to provide silk sarees for brides and gold rings for newborn children.
Addressing unemployment, the TVK proposed a ₹4,000 monthly grant for jobless youth, coupled with the creation of 500,000 new government jobs and internships. For students pursuing higher education, the party promised interest-free loans up to ₹20 lakh.
Farmers were a particular focus in the manifesto, which proposed full waivers on agricultural loans for those owning less than five acres of land and 50 percent loan waivers for others. To support agricultural income, the party committed to instituting minimum support prices for paddy and sugarcane crops.
On the economic front, TVK set an ambitious target of growing Tamil Nadu’s economy to $1.5 trillion by 2036. Plans to advance technological development include the establishment of a dedicated Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and the creation of AI parks. The party also allocated ₹15,000 crore to support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and promised to expedite business licensing, aiming to issue approvals within 21 days.
The manifesto also highlighted governance reforms intended to increase public participation. TVK proposed allowing citizens to decide on 10 percent of the state’s budget allocation and dedicating one day of legislative assembly sessions to hearing appeals from the public. The party emphasized a commitment to corruption-free governance as part of its administrative agenda.
The manifesto presents a blend of social welfare, agricultural support, technological advancement, and participatory governance, reflecting TVK’s strategy to appeal to a broad voter base ahead of the state elections.
