A tanker caught fire after being struck by an unidentified projectile while navigating the Strait of Hormuz near Limah, Oman, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations centre. The incident occurred early on July 7 as the vessel was headed south out of the strait toward the Gulf of Oman, a vital corridor for global oil and natural gas shipments.

The UK military reported that the projectile hit the port side of the tanker, igniting a fire on board. Authorities confirmed there was no environmental damage resulting from the strike. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. However, Iran is suspected of involvement, as it allegedly targeted at least two other vessels in the same region in recent days. The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical and sensitive maritime passageway, where previous tensions have raised concerns about the security of commercial shipping and the uninterrupted flow of energy supplies.
