Egyptian-Montenegrin actress and model Tara Emad is set to make her debut in Hollywood with the upcoming film “The Mummy: Book of the Dead,” the latest installment in Universal Pictures' long-running adventure franchise. Emad confirmed her participation in the project via her Instagram account, although details regarding her role and the film’s plot have not yet been disclosed. The movie is scheduled for release on October 15, 2027.
The film is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, known for their work on “Scream” and “Ready or Not.” The screenplay is penned by David Coggeshall. Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz return to reprise their iconic roles as adventurer Rick O’Connell and Egyptologist Evelyn O’Connell, respectively. They will be joined by John Hannah, Oded Fehr, and Kevin J. O’Connor, reuniting the core cast from the franchise’s original entries.
“The Mummy: Book of the Dead” draws its title from the ancient Egyptian funerary text central to the mythology underpinning the series. The franchise began in 1999 with Stephen Sommers’ “The Mummy,” which followed Fraser’s character awakening a cursed Egyptian priest. The blend of action, horror, and comedy established the series as a significant commercial success, leading to sequels in 2001 and 2008. This new installment marks the return of Fraser and Weisz together for the first time since the original films.
For Emad, whose career spans regional cinema and television, this marks her first venture into Hollywood productions. Her film credits include “Diamond Dust” and “The Blue Elephant 2,” with the latter featuring her as a mermaid. She has also starred in “Suits Arabia,” an Arabic adaptation of the American legal drama. Most recently, Emad appeared in the Saudi-backed action film “7 Dogs,” which was partially shot in the Kingdom and is reported to be one of the most expensive Arabic-language productions to date. That project was directed by the Belgian-Moroccan duo El-Arbi and Fallah, known for their work on “Bad Boys for Life.”
In addition to acting, Emad maintains a successful career in modeling, having appeared in various fashion magazines and collaborated with international brands. Her move into the Hollywood spotlight with “The Mummy: Book of the Dead” is being closely watched as a significant step in her professional trajectory.
