Leeds United are poised to secure the signing of Tarik Muharemović from Sassuolo, with the Yorkshire club reportedly agreeing a deal worth around £34-35 million. The 23-year-old centre-back had drawn interest from Sunderland and Bournemouth, but Leeds are said to have offered the most lucrative transfer fee and salary.
According to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Leeds are finalizing the remaining details of the agreement. Sassuolo is expected to receive approximately half of the transfer fee, while Juventus will obtain the other 50 percent due to a sell-on clause from Muharemović’s previous move from Turin.
Sunderland’s pursuit of the player appeared serious, but Leeds’ more urgent need to reinforce their defence following the departure of Pascal Struijk gave them an advantage in securing the deal. Muharemović’s arrival aims to strengthen Leeds’ options at centre-back as they prepare for the upcoming season.
