Tata Steel has broadened its collaboration with Google Cloud to implement a comprehensive artificial intelligence (AI) strategy across its global operations. The initiative aims to enhance efficiency and precision throughout the company’s value chain by integrating AI technologies at multiple levels.
Since the partnership's expansion, Tata Steel has deployed more than 300 specialized AI agents within nine months, according to a company statement released Wednesday. These AI agents are designed to optimize various aspects of the business, including predictive maintenance of assets and improving customer response times.
Jayanta Banerjee, Chief Information Officer at Tata Steel, highlighted that the collaboration has shifted AI from a mere experimental phase to a practical tool that supports employees across the organization. He described AI as a “continuous engine of execution” that empowers staff to immediately act on data-driven insights. Banerjee emphasized that the company’s adoption of "agentic AI" helps simplify complex business processes and facilitates execution on a broader scale.
The deployment underscores Tata Steel’s commitment to innovation through digital transformation, leveraging Google Cloud’s technology stack to enhance operational effectiveness across its global facilities. This move reflects a growing trend among industrial firms to integrate AI-driven solutions for process optimization and improved decision-making.
