Taylor Swift launched her campaign for an Academy Award with a high-profile performance at the Academy Museum Gala held in Los Angeles on Saturday. The 36-year-old artist delivered a four-song set, including the live debut of her recent hit "The Fate of Ophelia" and "I Knew It, I Knew You," a track recorded for the upcoming film *Toy Story 5*. Swift is aiming for a Best Original Song nomination at the Oscars next March with the latter, which spent two weeks at No. 1 in the UK after its release in June.

Swift’s appearance marked a rare live performance and a strategic move to increase her visibility among Academy voters, following several previous attempts to secure an Oscar nomination without success. Although she has contributed original music to prominent films such as *The Hunger Games*, *Fifty Shades Freed*, and *Cats*, as well as releasing the highly praised short film *All Too Well* which failed to earn a nomination in 2023, an Oscar has so far eluded her. Industry insiders suggest that Swift is leveraging her star power and connections as part of a concerted effort to win the award.

The singer, who wore a custom Dior gown designed by Northern Irish designer Jonathan Anderson, also sported platinum jewelry featuring more than 32 carats of diamonds. Anderson notably designed Swift’s wedding dress for her recent marriage to American football player Travis Kelce earlier this year.

Winning an Oscar would represent another major milestone for Swift on the path to achieving the prestigious EGOT status—an elite group of entertainers who have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony. Swift currently holds 14 Grammys and an Emmy, and she is reportedly working on a musical that could bring her closer to a Tony Award.

The gala drew numerous other celebrities, including Charlize Theron, who was honored with the Icon Award for her acting career. Attendees included former rivals Kim Kardashian, who channeled classic glamour in a 1951 Balenciaga dress and a 55.8-carat diamond necklace, as well as Kylie Minogue, Teyana Taylor, and Sabrina Carpenter.

Among the event’s social highlights, Kendall Jenner and Jacob Elordi were seen together inside the venue as their relationship continues to develop, though they made separate red carpet entrances. Additionally, Sacha Baron Cohen and his ex-wife Isla Fisher, who ended their 15-year marriage last year, both attended but kept a respectful distance from one another.

The star-studded event, regarded as Los Angeles’ answer to New York’s Met Gala, underscored the increasing intersections between Hollywood’s film and music industries as artists seek to broaden their accolades and influence.
