Taylor Swift has released new music ahead of the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), unveiling an extended edition of her 2025 album titled *The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore*. The release, which debuted on Friday, includes four additional tracks: “Patient Zero,” “Cleveland!,” “Pink Clouding” and “Babylon.” This marks Swift’s first new material since her wedding to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce in July at Madison Square Garden.

The music video for “Patient Zero,” which Swift directed and stars Colin Farrell and Dakota Johnson, is set to premiere during the VMAs ceremony on Sunday night. The song addresses the experience of being embroiled in a toxic relationship and offers advice to a new partner of the ex. With lyrics reflecting personal experience, Swift conveys a message of resilience and recovery in the face of unhealthy dynamics.

The track “Cleveland!” is an upbeat, piano-driven homage to her relationship with Kelce, who hails from Cleveland Heights, Ohio. The song celebrates their connection amid public scrutiny and misrepresentation. “Pink Clouding” revisits themes of past regrets and the complexity of love, characterized by a lush synth backdrop and introspective lyrics expressing an apology for leading a partner on. Swift shared on Instagram that the new songs were created during a trip to Sweden, where she and longtime collaborators Max Martin and Shellback recorded additional material in a moment of gratitude following the commercial success of the original album. *The Life of a Showgirl* initially released last October, had achieved a record-breaking first week, prompting Swift to expand the body of work.

In conjunction with the release, Swift launched a marketing campaign featuring a countdown clock on her website and altered her Instagram bio to cryptically reference “Patient Zero.” Fans were able to preorder three limited-edition CD versions of the new single, including acoustic and piano renditions.
