A teacher from Radlett, Hertfordshire, has denied charges of indecently assaulting a schoolboy in the 1990s. Deborah Franklin, 65, is facing eight counts of gross indecency involving a boy under the age of 14. The alleged abuse reportedly began when the complainant was nine years old.

At St Albans Crown Court, prosecutor Gavin Pottinger challenged Franklin’s claim that she did not remember the complainant. According to the prosecution, Franklin initially told police she had no recollection of the boy but later appeared to alter her account during questioning, downplaying her contact with the family. Pottinger argued this change in narrative undermines her credibility, stating that it suggests Franklin was not being fully honest in her testimony.

The trial is ongoing, with further evidence expected to be presented as proceedings continue. Franklin has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
