KOTA KINABALU — A special education teacher was killed in a seven-vehicle collision on a flyover leading to Luyang early Tuesday morning. The victim, identified as 44-year-old Arizal Wahid, was reportedly on his way to work at SK Sembulan when the accident occurred.

Emergency services were alerted at approximately 6:33 a.m., and firefighters arrived on the scene around eight minutes later. Sabah Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Mohd Hanafiah Tunjol stated that rescue personnel found Arizal pinned in his seat following the impact and used specialized equipment to extricate him. Despite their efforts, medical personnel at the scene pronounced him dead shortly thereafter.

Authorities subsequently handed over Arizal’s body to the police for further investigation. Rescue teams concluded their operations by 7:55 a.m. The circumstances leading to the pileup involving seven vehicles remain under inquiry.
