Iran’s exports of technical and engineering services surged by 140 percent in the fiscal year beginning March 21, 2025, reaching approximately $3 billion, a senior trade official reported. Amir Roshanbakhsh, deputy at the Trade Promotion Organization (TPO), disclosed the figures, highlighting a significant increase compared to the previous year.

According to Roshanbakhsh, technical and engineering services exports amounted to about $790 million during the prior fiscal year starting March 21, 2024, while other service exports totaled nearly $400 million. In the most recent fiscal year, technical and engineering services generated $1.8 billion in exports, complemented by around $1.2 billion from other services.

Despite the marked growth, Roshanbakhsh noted that current export levels remain below Iran’s full potential in this sector. He emphasized that with intensified focus and strategic planning, the country could aim to boost technical and engineering services exports to $5 billion.

The official stated that efforts are underway to enhance the value and reputation of these exports. He pointed out that unlike other sectors, technical and engineering services face fewer logistical and regulatory barriers related to entry and exit points, making them a promising avenue for earning foreign exchange and creating employment opportunities.

By leveraging its capacities in technical and engineering services, Iran seeks to diversify its export portfolio and reduce reliance on sectors that encounter more significant export constraints.
