A 16-year-old resident of Betar Illit has been formally charged in the Beersheba District Court with racially motivated assault, threats, and animal abuse, according to the State Attorney’s Office. The indictment was filed Tuesday, alleging that the minor unlawfully entered a residential compound in the South Hebron Hills on multiple occasions while carrying a metal stick. Prosecutors contend that during these incidents, he intimidated Arab residents and demanded that they vacate the land.

In addition to the alleged harassment, the indictment states that in a separate event, the youth pushed a woman and issued threats toward other residents. The charges also include an attempt to physically harm a dog tethered within the compound by striking it on the head with a pipe.

Following the filing of the indictment, prosecutors have asked the court to keep the minor in custody throughout the duration of the legal proceedings. No additional details regarding the defense or court dates were provided at this time.
